New team event for 2021

Our goals at CFS are to educate and inspire. Competition helps with the ‘inspire’ part: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your best friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher plane. Watching your teammates GO is inspiring so we are launching our Intramural Open

Every year, CrossFit HQ runs a five-week event called “The CrossFit Open“. As always, we take the idea and make it our own. We’re not interested in finding out how fast you can exercise against 400,000 other people worldwide. 

We ARE interested in helping you push to new levels in fitness, level up your life, and get lots of high fives from the CFS family.

Can we bring that worldwide thrill home? Can we deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks? We think so.

The Intramural Open is set to be our annual tradition at CFS and this is how it will look this year:

We’ll use our QuaranTEAM Games teams and add anyone that is not in a team. We will install a new Team Captain from each team to inspire and lead the way.

You can earn points for your team by participating (most points) winning an event (second-most points) and showing the most spirit during events.

After five weeks of intense, novel workouts, we’ll reveal the Mystery Event Six. This is something we will create just for you so you and your team can get the most out of taking part 

How do I sign up?

To sign up please fill out this form, we need to know who’s really keen and who is thinking about it. If you are really keen sign up and make a CrossFit.com account. If you are a maybe that is cool. Sign up just to our Intramural Open and get on our leaderboard and represent your team.

2 – If you are not in a team we will do a team pick before the start. This will be live on Facebook and EVERYONE will get picked.

3 – Team captains will be selected to lead and inspire the team through the open.

How do I score points?

You will work hard to perform well in the workouts, so how will all your hard work pay off? This is how the leaderboard will work:

+1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at home or in class each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!

+1 Point – Top 3: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 at CFS for each workout (Rx and scaled)

+3 Points – For people who do their workout in a 1:1 coached session. You will get more out of having a coach coach you before the session and to be there to judge your performance.

+5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points.

+5 Points (bonus) – 6th workout: see below.

What are the workouts?

In 2021,  The Open will have three workouts and we have three BONUS events planned, which may take place at any time DURING the five weeks or up until a week after the last.

As usual, you can be tested at any CrossFit Group time on Fridays during the Open This can be on the Zoom class.Your membership gets you into the tests (they’re just like regular workouts, but more challenging and fun.) The sixth event will be a great different event so you will not want t miss out on that one.

How can I get the most out of this?

We are offering 1:1 sessions for you to complete your Open Workout, as during lockdown iii that is the only time people are allowed to access our site and use the kit. The coach will be there to coach you, get you warmed up and ready to move well. They will ensure you move efficiently and have a top game plan to do the best you can in the workout. This service is the best way for you to do well and to have the most fun too because the coach can coach you through it. You will have a bespoke game plan for each workout and coaching tips to ensure you get maximum returns for your maximum efforts!

Open Prep

For most of our members, the Open will become an annual measuring stick to test their improvements in fitness.

Our programming will make a slight shift for the next six weeks to get you READY for the demands of the six-week competition!

We have the ability to upgrade you all to an open prep specialty programme. This is available for you to improve one or two specific skills, too. In the meantime, if you’re dying to get your first toes-to-bars, or link your pull-ups, tell your coach! We’ll get you some 1:1 time and homework!

What are the prizes?

We’ll have some random draws each week for prizes, including gear, supplements, and training packages. The top team will also earn a GRAND prize. Details released soon!

Our focus is on FUN. We want participation because it will make you fitter, and it will get you high-fives and you’ll be happy and love life more and glow and stuff.
