Happy and Safe Gym

It is amazing to have the gym open for safe in person training again. The past few weeks of training in the gym has really made me happy. I have seen some great performances in there and everyone is smiling and training well. It has been great to see the existing members train consistently again. Also I feel great to welcome lots of fun happy new members too.

When it comes to the gym, I really want your visit to the gym to be happy and the highlight of your day.

September 14th Guidelines

With the PM’s recent announcement I wanted to reassure you that we have your safety and the safety of others as our priority.

Good to see he said gyms were exempt right from the start.

Gyms and other business that can provide COVID Secure operations can continue to do so under the new 6 people social gathering rules.

This means we must continue our precautions to help stop the spread of the virus and to keep you safe.

We have completed risk assessments and one of the precautions I wanted to let you know was that under the government guidelines we could have 10 people training inside at one time due to our floor square footage. We reduced this to 6 plus one coach so we can be extra safe and offer outstanding coaching to our clients in group classes.

On a side note, small group classes were always our thing! We can help you more that way.  We do a session with 8 but the workout is programmed with safety (social distancing) in mind. If people do not feel safe please let me know.

As a gym we are doing the following:

💥 Shortening class times to let staff clean the kit and high touch points (door handles etc).

💥 Enforcing correct social distancing. We stager people in workout stations so everyone stays 2m apart

💥 Ventilation, we keep the doors open for fresh air and stagger people so we do not face each-other or blow particles onto others. We also limit C2 and Assault Bike use for the same reason.

💥 Issue you with a workout mat and/or location and sometimes cones to mark your safe zone so we all keep correct social distances.

💥  Our coaches are trained on our risk assessments and SOPs, so they will look after you. We regularly review these and update our coaches.

💥  We are booking in everyone using Wodify for track and trace, should we need to pass on any information.

Before attending the gym:

💥 Please make sure you are not unwell. That means if you have a runny nose, fever or a cough (or any COVID-19 Symptoms) we ask that you stay away from the gym.

💥If you are self isolating then please do not attend the gym

💥 Make sure you reserve and book into class via Wodify before arriving. Each class has a maximum number of participants.

When arriving at the gym:

💥 Please park and leave space by the big doors, we plan to use the outside space while it is nice and sunny.

💥 Please arrive in gym kit to make it easier to start training.

💥If you are mega early please do not congregate in a large group (we can’t have over 6 people in this situation), keep 2m social distancing.

💥 Wash or sanitise your hands on arrival.

💥 Maintain 2m from one another at all times.

💥 Bring your own towel to your class.

💥 Wipe down your equipment after use and dispose of the wipe in the bin. Use the Detol anti-virus Spray please.

💥 We ask that you leave the gym as soon as the class has finished.

💥 The toilet is open and we will keep that clean.

💥 The water fountain is available, please wipe it after use.

💥 We need to keep good ventilation in the gym so we will keep one or both of the big doors open.

💥  No touching high 5’s or fist pumps please. Distanced high 5s are cool and an extra well done cheer is fab please.

From the 14th of September government guidelines will limit social gatherings of up to 6 people. However “People can also continue to use leisure facilities, including gyms and pools – classes within these venues can continue as they are now. People should not go to these venues socially in groups of more than six.” (Sport England, September 2020)

“That’s because these sports and activities have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19, and because these venues are classed as Covid-secure given the measures they’ve introduced. The importance of sport and physical activity to people’s physical health and mental wellbeing has also been recognised by the government.” (Sport England, September 2020)

We can have classes larger than 6 but this is to train in a class where the coach will look after you and keep COVID secure precautions in place. So as per Government advice we are basically offering a safe place for individuals to come and train in a safe manor, overseen by a coach to ensure we keep everyone safe.

Our Future

I feel safe that we will look after you while at the gym. It is my vision that our gym is the happiest place in Shropshire. I do not want to damage that ever. Nor do I want to risk the safety of any one of you.

Keeping fit and healthy is just what we need right now, for us both physically and mentally. I am so pleased we can continue to help you during these tough times. Looking ahead we will be opening up more classes in October which will mean more opportunity for our members to train in small coached, COVID secure classes.

If we have to close the doors again for another lockdown then we can pivot back to our QuaranTEAM Games Teams and you can earn a new T-Shirt!

Looking forward to see you in class soon!
